The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Deputy President Floyd Shivambu addressed Parliament on Tuesday after being implicated in the VBS bank scandal.
Shivambu is maintaining that the party never benefitted from the VBS scandal.
He previously denied receiving R10-million from his brother Brian, after the latter was allegedly paid R16-million by the bank for doing consultancy work for Vele Investments the majority shareholder in the failed VBS Mutual Bank.
“We are going to state categorically as Members of Parliament, we never benefited anything from the VBS looting and the so-called heist that happened there,” he said.
Shivambu was interrupted by other MPs attempting to ask questions regarding his involvement.
He called on all law enforcement agencies to take “decisive action against all the individuals who benefitted from the VBS scandal” while stating the National Treasury and the Reserve Bank were aware of the bank’s exposure.
Shivambu blamed National Treasury and the Reserve Bank for not taking action sooner.
He asked that there be an attempt by the curator to save the bank and give it back to the depositors.
