Ayanda Ncwane

The widow of multi-award-winning gospel singer Sfiso Ncwane, Ayanda, has published a book dedicated to her late husband.

The Kulungile Baba singer died in December 2016 after suffering complications related to kidney failure.

Ayanda started writing For the Love of Sfiso Ncwane in January last year and would pen her thoughts whenever she needed an outlet. “Nothing was planned. I wrote according to the way I was feeling and when I needed to express myself,” she tells DRUM.

Ayanda and Sfiso initially planned to release a book for their 10th year anniversary which would have been last year.

“We were planning to base the book on what has helped to strengthen our marriage and keep our businesses afloat without interfering with our marriage and spirituality,” she says.

But their plans were cut short when he passed away. “He passed even before we could start on the book, but I felt that it was important for me to carry out the plans we had together.

Ayanda says the memoir is broken down into three parts: Ayanda’s childhood and upbringing, her journey with Sfiso and learning to live without him. “I share deep information details about our relationship that not even family members know,” Ayanda says.

For the Love of Sfiso Ncwane will be available at Exclusive Books and CNA from Friday 2 November.
