The City of Cape Town has issued a plea to its residents to consider adopting pets in order to help save their lives.
A recent report from the animal advocacy organization Four Paws revealed that 22% of South Africa’s animals are currently homeless. Many of these animals suffer from neglect, abuse, malnourishment, and untreated injuries.
JP Smith, MMC for Safety and Security in the City, emphasized the urgent need for support: “I will also be bringing attention to the challenges faced by this sector to the Western Cape government. I urge the public to assist us by either adopting a pet, ensuring pets are sterilized, or making donations to help the sector fulfill its responsibilities.”
The call to action underscores the critical situation faced by many animals in Cape Town and encourages community involvement to provide necessary care and support.
