Giovanni Solinas

Giovanni Solinas is confident that Kaizer Chiefs have what it takes to build on their triumph against Free State Stars by getting their first Absa Premiership victory of the season tonight.

The Italian got his first win with the Glamour Boys over the weekend as they booked their spot in the MTN8 semi-finals by beating Ea Lla Koto 3-0, and will be hoping for more of the same this evening when they come up against Baroka.

Chiefs are currently 13th in the league after two games without a win, though Solinas knows that all that can change tonight if they can pick up three points against Bakgaga – who are seventh.

Speaking to the club’s official website ahead of the encounter, the 50-year-old said, “This is Kaizer Chiefs… We play every game to win.

“There’s little time between games to recover. When you have a congested fixture list, you don’t get a chance to conduct many training sessions to work on, for example, tactics, because the focus is more on the recovery of the players, managing fatigue and fitness.

“I have the necessary information to plan against Baroka. I’ve watched their two league games – they press the opponents high on the pitch and they are organised defensively.”

The two teams will lock horns at 19h30 tonight in the only Absa Premiership encounter of the day.
