The High Court in Johannesburg will this morning start with sentencing proceedings against four women accused of killing Prince Lethukuthula Zulu, son of the late AmaZulu King Goodwill Zwelithini. The four were acquitted on charges of murder and possession of drugs but found guilty on charges of theft.
Tshegofatso Moremane, Margaret Koaile, Portia Mmola and Gontse Tlhoele were found in possession of some of the stolen items as well as pills believed to have been used to drug Zulu. The prince had gone clubbing on a night out when he met the accused.
They later went to Zulu’s place of residence to continue with the party. Zulu’s body was found the following day at his complex by a security guard. He was declared dead on the scene.
Prince Lethukuthula was born in 1970 to King Goodwill Zwelithini and his first wife Queen Sibongile Dlamini.
He completed his lower education at Mlokothwa High school and furthered his tertiary education at the Durban University of Technology and Mangosuthu University of Technology.
His death at the time sent shockwaves to the AmaZulu nation. As the eldest son to the King, the prince was described as a pillar of strength to the AmaZulu royal family.
