Tekashi 6ix9ine has been arrested in the Dominican Republic after allegedly assaulting two music producers. The 27-year-old rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was arrested on Sunday night at Hotel Balcones del Atlantico in Sánchez, Samaná. In a press release, the Public Ministry of the Dominican Republic said that he was then “transferred to the jurisdiction of La Vega”.

Tekashi 6ix9ine allegedly assaulted Cristian Anthony Rojas. and Nelson Alfonso Hilario García at a recording studio in La Vega at around 1am on Friday. It’s believed he was trying to arrange a flight out of the country before his arrest, but was stopped after the charter company checked with immigration for any outstanding warrants.

Tekashi 6ix9ine and his team allegedly severely assaulted the two music producers over his girlfriend, Yailin La Más Viral. Producer Diamond La Mafia also said Tekashi 6ix9ine threatened him over video chat after the alleged assault.

“He grabbed both of my producers, they destroyed my studio, through no fault of their own, without knowing him,” he told Diario Libre. “Also threatening me by video call to fight, saying he is armed.”

The publication claims Yailin was recording a song with Diamond when the attack took place. Diamond claimed Tekashi 6ix9ine was “jealous” over his working relationship with Yailin. The producer told them that Yailin had left the studio before five men arrived demanding to know where she was.

When they couldn’t find her, Diamond claims they started their attack. One of the victims was allegedly hit with the butt of a gun and required surgery to have his jaw realigned.

Tekashi 6ix9ine’s arrest was also confirmed by Dominican Republic-based criminal lawyer Felix Portes. In a series of Instagram posts, the lawyer said Tekashi 6ix9ine had been attempting to flee the country but was put on a “migration alert”.
