The South African National Taxi Association has now partnered with e-hailing platform named Teksi Ride. The taxi council says the new venture will not compete with other established metered taxis,

but it’s another option for their loyal client base. The National Chairperson of Metered Taxis, Sizwe Mvubu said, “We are not here to compete but to service our old customers.”

“Any vehicle that has operating licenses, we are going to open doors for them. We are working on demand and supply. We are working closely, we are not going have a situation, that the industry is oversaturated.” We are going to work with operators that have operating licenses in those certain regions.
