A woman who burnt down her cheating partner’s home after catching him having s*x with another woman on the front verandah has been jailed for two years.

Mother-of-four Veasha Foley, 30, had drunk up to 30 beers on the morning of November 9 last year before she arrived at the property in the West Australian town of Leonora to find her partner and the other woman on a mattress outside.

The District Court of WA, sitting in Kalgoorlie, had been told Foley set a blanket on top of the mattress on fire.

“It was particularly hurtful to her because Ms Foley and her daughter used to sleep on that mattress,” her defence counsel Tanja Cobden told the court.

Cobden said her client felt it was extremely disrespectful to the memory of her daughter, who had died months earlier.

Foley had not meant to burn down the house, the court was told.

A pet dog and cat died in the fire, but Cobden said her client was not aware the animals were inside and was very sad they died.
