President Cyril Ramaphosa is answering oral questions from Members of Parliament in his second National Assembly question and answer session since being sworn in.
The questions, which were published by Parliament earlier on Wednesday, deal with a range of topics including land expropriation without compensation, the cost of fuel, value-added tax and other matters which have dominated the public discourse recently.
The Q&A session comes at a time when South Africans are deeply divided on the issue of land reform, unemployment is rife, inflation has skyrocketed and service delivery protests are a near daily occurrence across the country.
The president is expected to offer some clues as to government’s strategies to combat the issues causing dissatisfaction among citizens – especially since South Africa is set to hold general elections in less than 12 months time.
